The Faculty of Law is delighted to have organized a lecture on Transgender Rights in India to raise awareness among students through a workshop on laws relating to transgender rights and the recognition of transgender identities. The program aimed to remind law students that our society has moved beyond binary gender identities and that every individual deserves to be treated with equality, dignity, and respect. The session took place on 1/11/2025 between 11:00 AM and 12:00 noon. The speaker of the session was Dr. Saleem Ahmed MA, Associate Professor, Crescent School of Law, Chennai . The session outlined the rights of transgenders in India and judicial pronouncements, which laid down the foundation of legal recognition of transgender rights in India.
The seminar was organized by Dr.M. Amaraa and convened by Mrs. S. Harinishree and Mr. N. Kishore, under the guidance and support of Prof.Dr.N. Murugavel, Director, Dr.R.Gomathy Sankari, Department Head, Dr.M.Amaraa, Deputy HOD and Mrs.R.Shalini, Deputy HOD. We also extend our gratitude to Dr.K.Senthilkumar, Dean (Administration) and Dr.A.R.Arunachalam, Dean (Academics), Phase II for their support.
