The Faculty of Law, Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute, Chennai, organized an educational visit to the High Court of Madras on 9th April 2026 for final-year students of the 2021–2026 batch.
The visit was coordinated by Dr. M. Amara, Deputy Head, and accompanied by Mrs. N. Uma Chithra and Ms. L. Ranjitha, Assistant Professors, who guided the students throughout the programme.
The visit coincided with the celebration of Mediation Day, presided over by the Hon’ble Chief Justice, Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari, in the presence of esteemed members of the judiciary. It is noteworthy that students from Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute were invited as university representatives for this significant occasion.
A key highlight of the event was the release of Mediation Awareness Pamphlets by the Hon’ble Chief Justice, which were received and distributed by the students within the court premises. The students also had the opportunity to interact with retired judges, visit the Mediation Centre, and explore the High Court Museum, gaining valuable insights into judicial practices and heritage.
The afternoon session provided practical exposure to judicial administrative processes, including filing, scrutiny, registration, and preparation of the cause list, thereby enhancing the students’ understanding of court procedures.
The programme was conducted under the esteemed guidance of Prof. Dr. N. Murugavel, Director, and Prof. Dr. N. Rajeshwari, Dean.
We extend our sincere thanks to Dr. K. Senthilkumar, Dean (Administration), and Dr. A. R. Arunachalam, Dean (Academics), Phase II, for their constant motivation and support.
