Educational Visit to the Madras High Court
The Faculty of Law, Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute, Chennai, successfully organized an educational visit to the High Court of Madras on 10th April 2026 for final-year students (B.Com. LL.B. (Hons.) and B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), 2021 batch) as part of the High Court Internship Programme.
The visit was coordinated by Dr. M. Amara, Deputy Head, and accompanied by Mrs. N. Uma Chithra and Ms. L. Ranjitha, Assistant Professors, who guided the students throughout the programme.
During the visit, students explored the New Additional Heritage Court Building at the Madras High Court and attended criminal side proceedings in Court Halls 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. They received detailed insights into the procedures involved in filing and posting cases on the criminal side.
The students also observed live proceedings in various courts, including the City Civil Court, Small Causes Court, Family Court, Labour Court, and Consumer Protection Court. This exposure enabled them to understand practical aspects such as civil case filing procedures, divorce proceedings, payment of batta, application processes for Bill of Costs (BOC), and hearings under POCSO Courts.
In addition, the students visited the civil side filing and posting sections, gaining a comprehensive understanding of court administration and procedural processes. These practical exposures provided deeper insights into the functioning of the judicial system.
The visit proved to be highly informative and significantly enriched the students’ practical knowledge of litigation and judicial functioning. The programme was conducted under the esteemed guidance of Prof. Dr. N. Murugavel, Director, and Prof. Dr. N. Rajeshwari, Dean.
We extend our sincere thanks to Dr. K. Senthilkumar, Dean (Administration), and Dr. A. R. Arunachalam, Dean (Academics), Phase II, for their constant motivation and support.
It is our privilege to express our heartfelt gratitude to our respected President, A. C. S. Arunkumar, for his continuous encouragement and unwavering support.
