The Faculty of Law, Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute, Chennai, successfully organized a three-day educational visit to the High Court of Madras on 8th April 2026 for final-year students (B.Com. LL.B. and B.A. LL.B., 2021 batch) as part of the High Court Internship Programme.
The visit was coordinated by Dr. M. Amara, Deputy Head, and accompanied by Mrs. N. Uma Chithra and Ms. L. Ranjitha, Assistant Professors, who guided the students throughout this enriching experience.
During the visit, students had the valuable opportunity to closely observe the dynamic functioning of the judiciary by attending live proceedings in Court Halls 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 43, 44, 47, and 50, including matters heard before the Hon’ble Chief Justice’s Court. They witnessed a variety of cases, including writ petitions, criminal matters, and original suits, which provided them with practical insights into courtroom advocacy, judicial reasoning, and procedural aspects of law.
The students also explored the Madras High Court Museum, gaining a deeper understanding of the institution’s rich history, landmark judgments, and judicial heritage.
The visit proved to be highly informative and significantly enhanced the students’ practical knowledge of litigation and judicial processes. The programme was conducted under the esteemed guidance of Prof. Dr. N. Murugavel, Director, and Prof. Dr. N. Rajeshwari, Dean.
We extend our sincere thanks to Dr. K. Senthilkumar, Dean (Administration), and Dr. A. R. Arunachalam, Dean (Academics), Phase II, for their constant motivation and support.
It is our privilege to express our heartfelt gratitude to our respected President, A. C. S. Arunkumar, for his continuous encouragement and unwavering support.
The Faculty of Law appreciates the enthusiastic participation of the students and believes that such initiatives play a vital role in bridging the gap between theoretical learning and practical exposure.
