Educational Visit to the High Court of Madras

The Faculty of Law, Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute, Chennai, successfully organized a three-day educational visit to the High Court of Madras on 2nd, 6th, and 7th April 2026 for final-year students (2023 batch) as part of the High Court Internship Programme.

The visit was coordinated by Dr. M. Amara, Deputy Head, and accompanied by Mrs. D. Vijayalakshmi and Mr. N. Kishore, Assistant Professors, who provided guidance and support to the students throughout the programme.

During the visit, students observed live court proceedings in various court halls, including sessions before the Hon’ble Chief Justice’s Court. They gained valuable practical exposure to a range of cases such as criminal matters, bail petitions, and writ proceedings, which enhanced their understanding of courtroom procedures, advocacy, and judicial decision-making.

The students also visited important sections of the High Court, including the Filing and Posting Sections (Criminal, Appellate, and Writ), as well as the Arbitration and Mediation Centre. These visits offered practical insights into court administration and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.

Furthermore, the students explored the Madras High Court Museum, where they learned about the rich history, landmark cases, and judicial heritage of the institution.

The visit proved to be highly informative and significantly enriched the students’ practical knowledge of litigation and judicial functioning. The programme was conducted under the esteemed guidance of Prof. Dr. N. Murugavel, Director, and Prof. Dr. N. Rajeshwari, Dean.

We extend our sincere thanks to Dr. K. Senthilkumar, Dean (Administration), and Dr. A. R. Arunachalam, Dean (Academics), Phase II, for their constant motivation and support.

It is our privilege to express our heartfelt gratitude to our respected President, A. C. S. Arunkumar, for his continuous encouragement and unwavering support.
