With the great support of our Founder Dr. A.C. Shanmugam and our President Er. A.C.S. Arunkumar, under the guideship of Director FOL, Dean FOL, the Faculty of Law of Dr. MGR Educational and Research Institute, Maduravoyal has successfully organised a one day visit to the Tamilnadu State Human Rights Commission on 03.07.2023. The faculties Mr. Nizar Ahamed, Mr. Venkat Raj, Dr. Gomathi Sankari along with Administrative officer. Mr. Bharathanand were the coordinators of the visit.
Mr. Sugumar from the commission gave a brief about the functioning of the state Human rights Commission. The students were taken to the various divisions of the commission and interacted with the members.
In the morning session a lively lecture on Human Rights was given by Thiru V. Kannadasan who is one of the members of state human rights commission. He explained about the three divisions, the appointment and the composition of state and national human rights commission. He also talked about major human rights issues, human rights violations, Constitution and human rights. He cleared all the student’s doubt at the end of the session. In the afternoon session Thiru M. Sundaresan, Deputy Superintendent of Police interacted with the students. He briefed about the procedure to file a human rights compliant. He highlighted the recent human rights cases. He also talked about various investigation conducted by the commission. Lastly, he concluded his speech by motivating the young minds. The students experienced and learned a lot from this one day visit.
