Three-day educational visit to the Madras High Court as part of the High Court Internship Programme.
The Faculty of Law organized a three-day educational visit to the Madras High Court on 15th April 2026 for final-year BBA., LL.B (2021 Batch) students as part of the High Court Internship Programme.
The visit was coordinated by Dr. M. Amara, Deputy Head, and accompanied by Mrs. Archana. S, Assistant Professor.
During the visit, the students gained valuable practical exposure by observing various court proceedings. They attended writ proceedings under Article 226 of the Constitution, including Habeas Corpus, Mandamus, and Certiorari petitions, which provided insights into the powers exercised by the High Court over public authorities.
The students were also introduced to the procedural aspects of the court, including filing and administrative processes such as scrutiny of cases, rectification of defects, assignment of filing numbers, caveat filing, and urgent mentioning procedures. This helped them understand the practical workflow involved in litigation.
On the civil side, students observed proceedings relating to suits and appeals, including examination of witnesses and evaluation of documentary evidence. On the criminal side, they witnessed bail hearings and cross-examinations during trial proceedings, which enhanced their understanding of criminal litigation.
The visit was highly informative and enriched the students’ practical knowledge of litigation and judicial functioning. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Prof. Dr. N. Murugavel, Director, and Prof. Dr. N. Rajeswari, Dean.
We extend our sincere thanks to Dr. K. Senthilkumar, Dean (Administration) and Dr. A. R. Arunachalam, Dean (Academics), Phase II, for their constant motivation and support.
It is our privilege to express our heartfelt gratitude to our respected President, Er. A.C.S. Arunkumar Sir, for his continuous encouragement and support.
