The Faculty of Law is delighted to have organised a seminar on Legal awareness on Banking Law and practice on 29th April 2026 at the Smart Class Room Phase II Campus. The programme was conducted from 11.00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The session was delivered by Advocate Sasi Rekha, Chief Legal Officer (Indian Bank Retired) & Practicing Advocate in Madras High Court & Debts Recovery Tribunal . She conducted an insightful and engaging seminar for the first-year students of LLB(Hons).
The seminar opened with a powerful premise: legal awareness is the bridge between being an “ordinary person” and being an empowered citizen. A key takeaway from the session was the relationship between a bank and its customers. The speaker highlighted that banking operations are strictly governed by a “regulatory web” to ensure financial integrity
The speaker outlined the tools banks use when loans go unpaid, such as the SARFAESI Act 2002, reporting to CIBIL and even restrictive measures like Look Out Circulars at airports to prevent debt flight.
The event was organised by Dr.J.James and Dr.A.J.Kandasamy and convened by Mrs S. Harinishree and Mrs. R Jeevitha
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Director Prof. Dr. N. Murugavel , Dean Prof. Dr. N. Rajeshwari.
We also extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. K. Senthilkumar, Dean (Administration), Phase II, and Dr. A. R. Arunachalam, Dean (Academics), Phase II, for their continuous support.
It is our privilege to express our sincere gratitude to our respected President, Er. A. C. S. Arunkumar Sir, for his constant encouragement and support.
